Visceral fat: Apple drink rich in polyphenols can help burn belly fat – study

Visceral fat is a time bomb. Deep belly fat can increase your risk of health problems, from diabetes to dementia. Therefore, it is imperative to remove visceral fat. Luckily, a glass of sugary drink may help.

The research team investigated the effects of polyphenols in apples on subjects of different weights.

In case you didn’t know, polyphenols represent naturally occurring plant compounds found in fruits and vegetables.

These plant goodies are known for their disease-fighting mechanisms and their ability to reduce inflammation and the risk of heart disease.

Looking at a total of 124 participants, the researchers compared subjects ranging from “moderately underweight” to “moderately obese.”

Participants were divided into two groups, one group was allowed to enjoy an apple drink, and the other group was allowed to drink a polyphenol-free drink.

They were also initially instructed to drink daily for 12 weeks, followed by a strong-dose regimen for only 4 weeks.

The apple drink group consumed a drink containing 600 milligrams of polyphenols.

As for the actual amount to drink, 340 grams were given daily at the beginning, and the dose was tripled later in the study.

After eight weeks of following the apple drink protocol, researchers began noticing differences in visceral fat area.

Long-term consumption of polyphenol-rich beverages was able to “significantly” reduce participants’ levels of belly fat.

However, the study reported that these effects were only observed in those with high visceral fat starting the study.

The team explained, “There was no significant change in visceral fat area in apple group subjects who started with normal visceral fat area.”

Furthermore, these same benefits were not observed in the group that was drinking the placebo drink.

One of the reasons why apples help you lose weight is the pectin they contain.

Pectin is a type of fiber that breaks down slowly in the body, keeping you feeling fuller for longer.

This type of fiber also binds water, limiting the amount of fat your cells can absorb.

Additionally, in this study, blood tests and physical examinations in the apple group did not reveal any clinical problems.
