Marie Wilson was originally the Beach Boys’ manager
The Beach Boys are the band behind ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’, ‘Good Vibrations’ and ‘God Only Knows’. They became one of his most popular bands of the early 1960s and are known for their surf rock sound and love of cars.
The band consisted of several family members, with brothers Brian, Karl and Dennis Wilson, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine acting as founding members.
In 1965, after being “intimidating” and “disruptive” during recording sessions, Marie Wilson was officially sacked as the Beach Boys’ manager. He later wrote a letter to the musician, apologizing for his wife’s behavior towards his three brothers.

Brian Wilson says his dad wouldn’t let him drink while the Beach Boys were on tour
In the same memoir, Wilson describes his father’s experiences as the band’s manager. He once visited Salt Lake City with his father, whose band is traveling with the Beach Boys.
“There was a bar in town called the Lagoon, and there were more pretty girls than I ever imagined,” Wilson wrote. They wouldn’t let us have beer, and we were like Mormons ourselves.”
“Except that Dennis and Mike didn’t listen,” Beach Boy continued. “They left on their own. I mostly talked to myself or stayed in hotels and talked to girls in the lobby.”
After firing their father as manager, the Beach Boys were drinking on tour and some members were experimenting with drugs.
Brian Wilson wrote a Beach Boys song about his relationship with his father
Wilson wrote “I’m Bugged at My Ol’ Man” for Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), a track about his relationship with his father. Some critics claimed the track was too simplistic, but said the artist was just writing his emotions.
“But I wasn’t trying to be complicated,” Wilson wrote. Ka was listed for every song, but the vocals on “I’m Bugged at My Ol’ Man” were “too embarrassing. It was so direct.”
Most Beach Boys songs were partially written and arranged by Brian Wilson. The surf rock group’s music is now available on most major streaming platforms.
