Proper hydration is essential, but many of us aren’t drinking enough water


Baltimore — Are you drinking enough water? A simple way to stay healthy with many benefits.

Hydration is the key to living a long and healthy life.

Drinking water aids digestion, protects organs, regulates body temperature, normalizes blood pressure, and can even slow down the aging process.

To find out who’s staying hydrated, we spoke to Baltimoreans.

“Do you think you drank enough water for the day?” Lin Bui asked a street passerby.

“Yes, I drink water. I drink water every day,” answered one.

“Hmm… probably not,” said another.

“I wish I could drink more water, but I’ll try my best.”

Dr. Revathy Jothindran is an emergency physician at Northwest Hospital. She says we underestimate how much water our bodies really need.

“[Water is] It’s a key component of every process, every chemical reaction, every pathway,” said Dr Josindran. In order for our bodies to function at their best, it is very important that we have access to tools such as water. ”

“If there’s no water there, it’s not lubricating the engine,” she continued.

Dehydration can lead to serious complications, including seizures, kidney failure, and even death.

“Don’t ignore the subtle signs your body is telling you,” said Dr. Jocindran. Because it really helps in the long term, and it helps your overall health and wellness.”

We all know the general advice to drink about 8 glasses of water a day, but doctors say you actually need more – about 2-4 liters a day. .
