A reporter on the Today Show couldn’t resist swiping Prince Harry on the day Prince Harry’s long-awaited memoir Spare was released in Australia.
Gabriel Boyle was filming Livecross from Dymocks bookstore in Sydney’s CBD on Wednesday morning and joked that he needed a “hard drink” to read the Duke of Sussex’s book.
She made the remark after pointing out that there were no people outside the George Street store, which is surprising given the round-the-clock publicity activity surrounding Spare’s release.
Today, show reporter Gabriel Boyle (pictured) couldn’t resist swiping Prince Harry the day his long-awaited memoir Spare was released in Australia.
The segment began with TODAY host Lara Bella asking Boyle: “Gabby, the bookstore here wants long lines. Anyone out there yet?”
Boyle smiled awkwardly as he surveyed the deserted streets and replied,a few hours [to go] yet. ‘
After stating that Dymocks is offering customers a free hot drink with every purchase, she later added wryly:
In this quip, Lara and co-host Alex Cullen burst into laughter back in the studio.

Harry recently said he and wife Meghan Markle (right) would never return to the UK
“Gabby, I think you’re speaking on behalf of a lot of people here,” Lara said, to which Karen added, “Whiskey on the rocks.”
An hour later today, I’m back at Boyle inside the Dymocks flagship store.
There were no customers lining up outside, but Dymocks had already sold 600 pre-orders and had “thousands and thousands” in stock, she said.
But she yelled at the book’s $45 price tag.
“If you want to know how much it costs to get this, it sells for $45 here at Dimoc, but it sells for $60 at some retailers,” said Boyle.
“$60 for the privilege of reading this,” she added, while Karen mocked the Today show’s headquarters.
“I don’t want to pay $45 for extras. Download audiobooks and listen to them while doing the dishes.”
Harry’s headline-grabbing autobiography Spare hit shelves on Tuesday, and 400,000 copies in hardcover, e-book and audio formats were snapped up and pushed into record books, the publisher said.
This makes it the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time.

Despite no customers queuing outside, Dymocks has already sold 600 pre-orders and has “thousands” in stock, according to Boyle.
The book has the Prince of Wales physically attacking Harry, teasing him about his panic attacks, and the King putting his own interests ahead of Harry and being jealous of the Duchess of Sussex and the Princess of Wales. It contains a claim that
In a US broadcast promoting the book, Harry branded the Duchess of Cornwall a “villain” and “dangerous”, accusing him of restoring her image at his expense.

As the Duke continued with a series of high-profile publicity interviews, he said he “wants nothing” more than for his children to be associated with the royal family.
His remarks about his son and daughter came despite criticism directed at his brother William, father Charles, and stepmother Camilla.
In his first publication interview for his autobiography, he told US magazine People that Archie, 3-year-old, 19-month-old Lili, was related to several members of the Windsor family who did not name. He said it brought “great joy” to
He also described his late mother, Princess Diana, as his “guardian angel” and said she was “always” with him.
UK bookstores opened early Tuesday to offer Harry’s books, but industry experts predict Spare will be one of the best-selling pre-order titles of the past decade. The line was sparse after the pre-publication leak.
The scene outside the Australian bookstore was equally quiet.
