BAR ONE Lounge and 800° Woodfired Kitchen are opening new locations in the South End and Lake Norman, with flagship stores in the South Park area.

scoop: Bar One takes over the former Sycamore Brewing Space in the South End. The lounge will also house Lake Norman’s only floating boathouse-style bar when Queen’s Landing’s new Mooresville home is complete.

Bar One + 800° Woodfired Kitchen = A Successful Business Pairing

Steven Jensen, who co-owns the concept with food industry expert Kyle O’Brien, says the combination of Bar One and 800° Woodfired Kitchen:It’s different from what’s out there,’ and brought about explosive growth. The restaurant and lounge will open at Phillips Place in early 2021.

“Down the hall from the dining room… it feels like you’re going somewhere else,” he said in an exclusive interview with CharlotteFive.

An entertainment industry veteran, he created the concept and design elements for Bar One based on the Los Angeles bars he frequented since the 80s.

Even Bar One’s name has its roots in Tinseltown, but the original location has since closed.

He appreciates a business style that makes customers feel welcome. And it gives customers a better experience. In October, the restaurant offered his 400,000th customer free pizza for life.

“If you treat people the way you want them to treat you, they will come back,” said Jensen.

Bar One Phillips Place

The 86-seat expansion at Phillips Place is nearly complete and is set to debut on Valentine’s Day. The new space maintains the same moody vibe, with mahogany and leather seating and dark walls adorned with artwork.

Many of the design elements come from Jensen’s late-night searches on Etsy and eBay, he says, suggesting that customers can relax and talk about the art on their walls rather than just sitting on their phones at a bar. I explained that I was working to create an environment where we could talk. .

He has his own children (ages 12 and 14) working in the restaurant. “They have learned every trade, they make pizzas and salads. They know how to prepare food, buss them, transport them. said.

“We’re more involved. Me and my partner are always here…that vibe transfers to all of our locations,” Jensen added.

Bar One Lake Norman

At Lake Norman, Bar One and 800° Woodfired Kitchen are moving to a 15,000-square-foot two-story space.

Downstairs, the 800° Woodfired Kitchen serves sophisticated dishes like filet mignon and wood-fired salmon, as well as prosciutto and burrata pizza.

Upstairs, Bar One features a spacious private dining area with lake views and live entertainment.

Outdoors, the 25-seat bar, accessed by boat on the lake, offers full service.

The project is part of Arnold’s restoration work at Queen’s Landing. The restaurant project is scheduled to open in winter 2023.

Bar One South End

In the South End, Bar One moves into the former space of Sycamore Brewing. This space is currently being demolished for a move to a luxury residential high-rise with ground floor retail. It is scheduled to open in early 2024.

The upscale cocktail lounge offers 800° Woodfired Kitchen’s full lunch and dinner menu curated exclusively for the South End. You’ll find pizza, salads, and other fan favorites elsewhere, but with some subtractions and additions.

Southwick Architecture will design the 2,500-square-foot space to match Phillips Place’s existing exterior and Lake Norman spots.

“What appeals to me is that we are part of the fabric of the community,” says Jensen. “Once the expansion is complete, we will employ over 600 people. Five to ten times the minimum wage, health insurance and a matching 401K. For me, that’s a bigger accomplishment than opening three restaurants. What people look forward to is spending time with people and eating good food. “
