Two Santa Monica Restaurants Earn Coveted Culinary Honors
Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) recently announced that Santa Monica restaurants Citrine and Melisee have been awarded a Michelin star. The winners were announced at the Michelin Star Revelation 2022 held at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
To receive a prestigious Michelin star, a restaurant must be vigorously reviewed by anonymous diners and meet all criteria on Michelin’s own, fully independent inspection list. A Michelin star means a restaurant that offers the highest quality cuisine, whether it’s the quality of the ingredients, the skill and taste, the creativity and consistency.
For over 120 years, Michelin has been the go-to source for gastronomy lovers around the world, publishing 32 guides annually in over 24 countries. The 2023 Michelin Guide California is the latest edition and represents his fourth statewide or regional guide in the United States.
Citrine is a modern Californian restaurant by Chef Josiah Citrine that offers a fun, welcoming and intimate experience. Melissè is his intimate 14-seat restaurant helmed by Chef de Cuisine Ian Scaramozza, where diners are led on a culinary adventure by a chef and sommelier.
For the second year in a row, Melisse received the coveted two-star rating, while Citrine received the first one-star rating. Santa Monica restaurants Cora Pasta and Tumbi have been named Bib Gourmands for the second year in a row.
“Santa Monica has a great culinary scene with over 400 restaurants in just 8.3 square miles. said Misty Kearns, President and CEO of SMTT. “My heartfelt congratulations to all the restaurants they represent, especially those who call Santa Monica home. What an accomplishment!”
