A Jharkhand man is said to have been beaten with sticks and stones by five criminals for refusing to eat beef. A police investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Satyajeet Kumar: In Radhanagar village, Sahibganj, Jharkhand, a man is said to have been beaten with sticks and stones by five people for refusing to consume alcohol and beef.
In his complaint, Chandan Ravidas said he was beaten up by five men for refusing to eat red meat on New Year’s Eve. He accused Mithun Sheikh and four others of physical assault.
According to Chandan, he went to Pakinja Mor’s shop on Saturday night. A violent altercation erupted, after which five men allegedly tried to force him to eat beef.
The defendant took Ravidus’ mobile phone and began throwing stones at him. They robbed Ravidas of his 8,000 rupees after the thrashing, according to the police complaint. When Chandan Ravidas resisted, he is said to have been stripped naked.
Radhanagar Police Station SI Rakesh Kumar told India Today that the complaint had been received and an investigation was ongoing.
