When I reviewed DESTIHL’s Dill Pickle Sour Beer earlier this month, it took me a while to decide if I was actually enjoying it after drinking it. I couldn’t make a head or a tail until a few hours after the fact.
I am happy to report that it has become much easier to understand my opinion on today’s choices.
This week, I tried the Vanilla Dream Ale from Hand of Fate Brewing Company. A cream ale with an ABV of 5.1%, he’s one of more than 14 craft beers the Petersburg brewery released in June. 2017. While nothing new, Vanilla Dream is still just as the name suggests, a leisurely drink to enjoy.
Everything about this beer begins with a can lined with a cream label and featuring stylized purple Trump Queen artwork that says “leisurely.” Cracking open reveals a pleasant candle-like scent of vanilla mixed with the familiar beer hops.
Vanilla Dream goes down smoothly. The vanilla flavor is pleasant but not overpowering, and the light cream perfectly complements the taste of his ale, rounding it out with a little bite at the end of each sip. It makes for a comfortable drinking experience that will make you feel relaxed and kick your feet up.
It’s hard to say much more about Vanilla Dream, simply because it doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as other drinks. It’s ale. However, and hopefully we learned from our last taste test, just because it has more ingredients than others doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. It’s a simple concept. Frankly, that’s enough.
This probably isn’t the kind of beer you want to drink at a tailgate party. (Or maybe it is. I don’t know what your tailgate party is like.) In my opinion, Vanilla Dream is a warm sweater for your drink and a great way to spend the night curled up on the couch. is optimal.
If you want to enjoy a refreshing drink without bitterness, please try it.
