This week’s Drinks segment showcases unique types of beer, wine, and cocktails to try at one of the countless breweries, bars, and restaurants around the Basin.

Christmas ale feature on Christmas? Yes, this is a present for you that will be unwrapped this week. Great tasting beers (even Bah Humbugs) to get you in the holiday spirit. However, it is limited in quantity and is likely to run out by New Year’s, so if you want to whistle, go to the Himmelhaus as soon as possible.

Dark beer is my friend, so seeing a deep mahogany beer with a magnificent layer of creamy foam in front of me makes me as happy as a stocking stuffed in front of a roaring fire on Christmas morning.

This Belgian beer is a quad ale with 10% ABV. Quadruple Ale may sound like a bully who doesn’t want to mess around with the sandbox, but relax. It’s sturdy, so you don’t drink too much. This is he is not one of the one-off types of beer. I don’t know what will happen after drinking a few times, but it’s very easy to drink.

Lots of seasonal flavors and aromas like creamy caramel, chocolate and flame-roasted chestnuts, but also a hint of fruit. This is one of those beers he likes that layers peel off with each sip, yielding a slightly different flavor with each sip.

This beer should go really well with all Apres fans. Spoiler alert in case you didn’t know: Himmel House is just below Cal Lodge, so you can actually ski up to the bar. well almost.

With snow on the ground and holiday cheer in the air, this drink should work well with whatever plans you have for the week.
