A police raid at the Festival Leisure Park stopped dozens of drivers and seized three cars.

As part of Essex Police’s anti-drinking and drug trafficking campaign, professional police were present at Timberlog Lane and Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park on Friday (30 December).

A total of 74 vehicles were stopped, 59 breath tests were performed, 3 vehicles were impounded, and 12 drivers were reported for violations.

A number of drivers have been stopped for exceeding the speed limit in Timberlog Lane, four of whom are now facing a speed awareness course or a £100 fine and three penalty points.

The worst offenders were driving at 40 mph and 43 mph, exceeding the 30 mph limit.

A Ford driver was reported to have left his vehicle in an unsafe condition.

The Nissan was also seized because the driver only had a provisional license and the MG driver did not insure his car.

All three drivers face charges, fines and penalty points.
