Ann Arbor – If your New Year’s greetings were too strong and you promised to give up alcohol in January, you’re not alone.
About 35% of Americans will quit alcohol in January 2022, according to the study by CGA. His first 31 days in January are for making New Year’s resolutions and breaking alcohol-related habits.
The movement, popularized by the British group Alcohol Change UK, is gaining momentum now that its potential health benefits have been endorsed. And so on. According to the American Heart Association.
If you’re trying to reduce your alcohol consumption but aren’t sure what else to drink, here are some suggestions.
Here are four non-alcoholic drinks to try in Ann Arbor.
1. Give up alcohol
Just because you quit drinking doesn’t mean you should stop going to restaurants and bars with your friends.
Detroit Street Filling Station, ROOT, and many other downtown restaurants serve non-alcoholic cocktails. Some are non-alcoholic classics like Shirley Temple, while others are unique creations by the hosts.

2. Do coffee pairing
New year, new tray. Dozer Coffee has changed his January tray his project, offering new drink and pastry combinations. Sit down with your friends and enjoy two Ginger Snap cappuccinos, two Kringle Berry Sodas and two Cardamom Chai Cookies.
If the idea of a coffee flight appeals to you, stop by Vertex Coffee Roaster to try a latte flight with their signature or rotating drink.
3. Drink more tea
Switch your booze to black tea or TeaHaus teas. After months of refurbishment, the Kerrytown business recently reopened to new and larger spaces. It now has a bar as well as a menu of pastries and teas.
Try our daily brews along with French macaroons, or enjoy our full English tea service on the last weekend of every month.
4. Swap cocktails for chocolate
It’s cold outside, so Le Bon Macaron’s menu has a drinkable chocolate called the Chocolate Show. A rich, intense chocolate drink can be diluted with steamed milk rather than the typical hot chocolate out of the package.
If that’s not enough, walk a few blocks to Mindo Chocolate Makers to grab some chocolate at the Kerrytown shop or take a bag home. “It’s the best liquid dark chocolate bar I’ve ever had,” he boasts.
