Cops nab Melaka couple for selling drug-laced soft drinks


Malacca: A couple were detained by Malacca police for peddling drug-laden soft drinks at RM300 and health drinks at RM150 each.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said a 34-year-old man and his 28-year-old wife, a foreigner, were detained at two separate locations in Bandar Hilir on January 21.

“The couple is believed to have evaded authorities by mixing the substance into bottles of branded instant beverages at the market and selling them at wild parties and entertainment venues,” he said Wednesday.

According to ACP’s Christopher Patit, investigations revealed that the couple obtained large quantities of drugs from syndicates in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, then mixed them and repackaged them as instant beverages and sold them here. bottom.

He said the seized drugs could be used by 3,669 addicts.

ACP Patit said his team also seized various substances, including ketamine, ecstasy pills, eramine 5 pills and ganja, all worth RM200,000.

He said police also seized cars, cash and other items from the couple totaling RM25,680.

ACP Christopher Patitt said a urine test performed on the couple was found to be negative, neither had a criminal record, and was being investigated under section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952. added.
