Boy fighting for life after alleged drink-driver crashes into car in which he was travelling


An 8-year-old boy blew nearly four times the legal alcohol limit on the Central Coast of New South Wales after his driver crashed into another vehicle, police say.

A 51-year-old woman was hit by a sedan while driving an SUV in Killarney Vale early Wednesday afternoon.

A boy traveling in a sedan was seriously injured and was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.

A 42-year-old woman driving the sedan suffered minor injuries.

New South Wales police have taken a 51-year-old woman’s breath test. After testing positive on the roadside, she allegedly blew 0.197 on a police station breath analysis.

She is currently facing seven counts, including aggravated dangerous driving resulting in serious injury, high altitude DUI and possession of prohibited substances.

License was also suspended.

The woman, who was denied bail by police, is scheduled to appear in Newcastle District Court on Thursday.
