Boy dies after car crash involving alleged drink driver in NSW

A few days ago, a young boy was killed in an alleged drunk driving car accident on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

At approximately 12:45 pm on Wednesday, a Toyota sedan and a Lexus SUV collided at the intersection of Mote Street and George Evans Road in Killarney Vale, about 90 minutes north of Sydney.

Paramedics treated a 42-year-old woman who was driving a sedan at the scene with minor injuries, but an 8-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car was seriously injured.

He was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition for treatment.

Police confirmed today that the boy has died.

A 51-year-old female SUV driver is said to have taken a roadside breath test and returned a positive result.

She was taken back to Gosford Police Station and given another breath test, which reportedly returned a reading of 0.197, more than three times the legal limit.

The 51-year-old was charged with a series of driving violations and had her license suspended.

Investigators will now confirm the charges.
