ORLANDO, Fla. (Ivanhoe Newswire) – Drinking three or more sugary beverages a week increases the chance of developing pre-diabetes, a condition that leads to diabetes, by 46%, according to a study.

“We have research that confirms that lifestyle changes are very powerful in reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by about 50%,” said Massey.
In fact, there are drinks that can lower your risk. A study in China found that drinking four or more cups of black, green or oolong tea a day reduced the risk of developing diabetes by 17%.
Another study in Japan found that people who drank three cups of coffee a day were 33% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those who drank less than one cup a week. Other beverages include plant-based milks, whole fruit smoothies, and flavored carbonated waters.

Even if you are diagnosed with pre-diabetes, it can prevent you from becoming diabetic and stop pre-diabetes altogether.
Experts say that if you exercise, avoid sugary drinks, and eat right, you have a 30% chance of reversing prediabetes.
