5 Zero-Proof Drink Ideas For Those Observing Dry Or Damp January


In recent years, vowing to observe a dry January ahead of all alcoholic beverages has been one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions. have been found to fail by 19%, showing that only 19% of individuals achieve their goals.

The result was a new trend of trying Damp January instead. As the name suggests, this is a more relaxed effort that encourages people to drink less or be more conscious rather than quitting alcohol altogether. Add ice, tea tincture, and zero proof whiskey to a mixing glass and chill well. Strain into a coupe glass and top with Spiced Pear Reserve. For the garnish, carefully light one end of the cinnamon stick with a torch and blow it out. Place a smoking cinnamon stick on top of the glass.

Tea tincture:

2 bags of rooibos tea (or 2 teaspoons)

½ cinnamon stick

Bring 8 oz. Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan and add half the cinnamon stick and both rooibos tea bags. Let the tea steep for 10 minutes, then strain through a fine sieve or tea strainer. Allow to cool, then refrigerate in an airtight container.
