Police chief operations officer and ACP deputy Livai Driu said driver behavior remains a major concern, as evidenced by the number of traffic violation bookings recorded daily.
ACP Driu has expressed concern over the high number of speeding and drunk driving arrests and bookings that took place Saturday through Sunday.
He added that 15 drunk driving arrests had been made over the two days, with the Western Division recording six, the Central Division five, the Southern Division three and the Eastern Division one.
According to ACP Driu, 118 speeding tickets have been issued.
He said speeding and drunk driving are two of the leading causes of traffic fatalities, and despite repeated warnings and advisories, this remains a problem.
The Police Traffic Division also recorded 44 fatalities last year and 25 in 2021.
ACP Driu says drivers need to change their attitude and urges everyone to speak up and report anyone who continues to be reckless.
He said traffic police will be out in large numbers today as more travel is expected following the Christmas and New Year festivities.
