12 Feelgood Food & Drink Stories in Windsor-Essex From 2022


Things were far from normal in the hospitality and tourism industry in 2022, but there was still some good news.

Let’s take a look at some of the good things that happened to the Windsor Essex food and drink scene over the course of the year.

WindsorEats opens physical store


In January, WindsorEats announced a physical store on Italian Road in Windsor. After working remotely for over 17 years, we zigzag as the world began to zigzag to remote work.

The site has become a permanent home base for many of our tours, events, and a space to showcase local culinary talent. is starting its tour. We have hosted many different restaurants, chefs and food his trucks with huge patios (with indoor dining, of course). Classes include Be A: Sausage Maker and Be A: Mixologist Cocktail Class.

We employ chefs and run our own test kitchens that produce incredible dishes on an ever-changing menu. And, of course, our bartenders throw in some unreal cocktails in fun ways, like getting a flight of margaritas and sour cocktails.


Festival is back!


finally! 2022 sees the return of many of the Windsor Essex region’s favorite festivals. Art in the Park and Carousel of the Nations renewed decades-old traditions with record turnouts, Walkerville Night Market was a hit, and Windsor Craft Beer The festival is back at Willisted Park at the last minute.


Crowned Master of the Bruniverse


A new festival has been developed in addition to the revival of the classic Windsor Essex Festival. Beer lovers flocked to Windsor Eats this April for the first Masters of the Brewniverse, where brewers and breweries go head to head in fun competition.

The 2022 People’s Choice Award winner was Malibu Barbie’s Chapter Two Brewing, a coconut and guava milkshake IPA. The Master of the Brewniverse Champion Belt was awarded to Beerded Dog and Jake’s Brew for their collaboration on Vanilla Iced Iced Latte (an oatmeal stout with vanilla and coffee).

The 2023 Masters of the Brewniverse will take place on Saturday, April 29th. Tickets are available now.


Twisted apron moves and spreads


At a time when many restaurants were struggling or closing, Twisted Apron hit an absolute home run by moving locations and expanding operations.


More beer from Kingsville Grove!


Speaking of successful location openings and expansions, the Grove Brewing Company did exactly the same in Kingsville, moving from the heart of town to a new facility that tripled its product!


New steakhouse in town


The Grove wasn’t the only new bargain in Kingsville. Popular Windsor pub Thompson House has opened upscale steakhouse Thompson Manor.


India’s paradise spreads


India Paradise has taken over the vacant retail space next to the Ottawa Street restaurant to create additional dining and event spaces.

They didn’t stop there! They even opened a store in London, Ontario!


Windsor Pizza comes to the big screen


Locals have known it for years. The rest of Canada is now a hit thanks to a new documentary that hit the big screens this year, and Windsor his style of pizza is the best. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can stream it online for free at CBC Gem.


Detroit Dive Bar Tours are back


The U.S. border has reopened after being closed for more than 19 months, and the popular D-Tour has resumed.

These Detroit Dive Bar tours are always popular, and once tickets became available, the first three tours sold out in four days.

Check to see if tickets for the 2023 tour are still available.


F&B is making a comeback


Don’t call it a comeback! (We’ve just been there) F&B has announced it will reopen in January 2023, bringing back exquisite small plates and craft cocktails.


soccer fever


Manchester has become a mecca for football enthusiasts in Windsor and Essex during the 2022 World Cup. He was one of the few official viewing parties for the Canadian Soccer World Cup in the country, and the downtown bars were packed for every match during the tournament.


Cocktail Flight Comes to Windsor


Everyone has heard of beer and wine flights. Well, Windsor Eats has taken it a step further by offering flights of its beloved margaritas.

With about 30 margarita recipes, you can try four smaller versions. This has now been expanded to offer sour cocktails (Whiskey Sour, Pisco Sour, Negroni Sour, Boulevardier Sour), Boozy Lemonade and Mimosa flights starting with Sunday Brunch.
